Clearbridge is a small direct to consumer business. We collect what an order needs and nothing that would be interesting to sell. This page says exactly what that is.
1. What we collect
- Order information. Name, email address, phone number, shipping address, billing address, the pieces you ordered and the amount paid.
- Payment information. Handled by our payment processor. Card numbers never reach our servers and we never see a full card number.
- Messages. Anything you write to us through the contact form or by email, and our reply.
- Email subscription. Your email address, if you asked for workshop notes.
- Site usage. Pages viewed, referring site, device type, approximate location from IP address.
- Local storage. Your cart is kept in your own browser under the key cb_cart_v1. It stays on your device and is not sent to us until you check out.
2. Why we collect it
To take and build your order, to ship it, to answer your questions, to handle a return or a warranty claim, to keep the financial records we are required to keep, and to send workshop notes if you asked for them. That is the complete list.
3. Who it goes to
- Freight and parcel carriers, so a crate can reach your address. They get your name, address and phone number.
- Our payment processor, to take payment and to issue refunds.
- Our email provider, if you subscribed.
- Our workshop, which gets your order number and the SKU code, not your address and not your payment details.
- Government or law enforcement, where we are legally required to hand something over.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for cross context behavioral advertising. We do not trade or rent mailing lists.
4. Cookies
The site uses what it needs to keep a cart and to count visits. You can block cookies in your browser. The cart depends on browser storage, so blocking it means the cart will not survive a page reload.
5. How long we keep it
Order records are kept as long as United States tax and business record rules require. Contact messages are kept while they are useful for answering a follow up question, then deleted. Email subscription data is kept until you unsubscribe, which every email has a link for.
6. Security
The site runs over HTTPS. Access to order data is limited to the people who need it to fill or support an order. No system is perfect, and we will tell you directly if a breach affects your data.
7. Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.
8. Your California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act gives you the rights below over the personal information described in section 1.
- Know. Ask what categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it, and who we disclosed it to.
- Delete. Ask us to delete personal information we collected from you, subject to the records we are legally required to keep, such as completed order and tax records.
- Correct. Ask us to correct personal information that is inaccurate.
- Opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. If that ever changes, a Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link will appear in the footer of every page before it does.
- Limit sensitive information. We do not collect the categories of sensitive personal information that this right applies to.
- No retaliation. We will not deny you goods, charge you a different price, or give you a lower quality of service for exercising any of these rights.
To make a request, write to us through the contact page with the email address or the order number we would know you by. We verify a request by matching it against order information we already hold, and we do not ask for anything extra to do that. We answer within the period the CCPA allows. An authorized agent may act for you with written permission that we can verify.
9. Other states
Residents of other states with comprehensive privacy laws, including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Oregon and Texas, have comparable rights to know, correct, delete and opt out. Use the same contact route and we will handle the request the same way.
10. Changes
We will change this page when what we do changes, and the date at the top is the last change. A material change is announced by email to subscribers before it takes effect.
11. Contact
Privacy questions and requests go through the contact page.
